Is the obesity epidemic just another excuse for elites to tell the proles how to live? Is it even an epidemic, in the public-health sense? These questions form the subject of today’s column.

Looks like that guy has a severe form of ascites, which is not ‘fat’. There’s a difference. But anyway…
The defintion of what is “obese” must have changed. I am positive that people were chubbier 10-20 years ago than they are today. Used to see roly-poly, fat kids running around. Twinkies, Ho-hos and Suzi-Q’s were the typical snack. That just isn’t the case now; hasn’t been for quite a few years.
There is no obesity epidemic.
