Glorification of Death: a Footnote
Bart Hinkle
March 23, 2007 3:55 PM

This story provides a helpful reminder not to generalize too broadly:

A new Palestinian movement being launched today is aimed at the moderate middle of Muslim politics.

Wasatia—Arabic for “moderation”—is the first Islamic religious party to advocate a peaceful, negotiated settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and a tolerant, democratic society at home

The new party is the brainchild of political science Professor Mohammed Dajani, director of the American Studies Institute at Al-Quds University in East Jerusalem. . . .

“We want to foster a culture of moderation so that our children do not grow up just with the literature of hate and violence,“ he said. “We want our children to grow up in a culture where people can co-exist in peace and harmony.“

Hear, hear. This is precisely what is needed.

But will it gain any traction?

Let’s hope so.

Sounds nice. Is the guy still alive? Maybe living in Lebanon he will live for awhile. It is a shame that Lebanon has been destroyed due to the greed and religious obsession of muslims. If it had partnered with Israel, Beruit would be a thriving metropolis filled with American tourists.

LoL, both of you! Well said. I would make a lousy diplomat as would you R. Smith. Let’s leave it to the pros. ‘What will be, will be.‘ Ok, that’s as trite as I’m willing to get. Who knows? Allah, their version of God, just may be as sick of all the nonsense as our version, Rick. Never hurts to ask.

Margie,

“fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.“

Simple but, timeless.

You and Scott go negotiate with this weeks envoys of peace and reconciliation. I’ll stay back here and watch the store.

Of coarse I welcome peace.

I pray for peace several times a day.

Talking cant hurt anything as long as it doesnt delay action.

Oops, that should have read Palistine and Isreal.

Posted by Margie on 03/26 at 05:51 PM

Snip, snip! Ok, guys shake hands and go to your corners. (Duck)

Scott, anyone who thinks there is ever going to be peace between Palistine, regardless of who is in charge, is living in a fantasy world.

Rick and R. Smith, how can we not welcome with open arms and hopeful hearts, ANY Arabs making moderate overtures, whether we believe anything will come of it or not. ‘Hope springs eternal’. Stranger things have happened.

You can come out now. Play nicely.

Mama

There could have been peace for the last 40yrs if only the Pali’s would accept Isreal as their neighbors.

I dont think they have ever been sincere at the signing of any peace agreement.

Brutal Force is the only language they seem to comprehend.

There’s lots of possibilities for peace…

Well then, if you want me to acknowlege the existence of moderates, then perhaps you should spend more time finding them and less time trying to smear those who disagree with you as being racist for abbreviating words.

Meant to say ‘call them Arabs’. Having keyboard difficulties myself wink
