How Would You React. . . .
Bart Hinkle

. . . if you were mistaken for a terrorist, kidnapped, imprisoned, and abused for several months before someone realized they had the wrong guy and dumped you out on the street?

Proably like this guy, no?

Dear Proud Dem (Dim),

Do you feel as sorry for the hundreds of inmates in the RCJail, being held—but not yet found guilty of anything—because they cannot afford bond?

Oh, but the difference is they’ve been “charged” with a crime, you say....

So then this argument is nothing more than a technical issue. And if that’s all it is—and if you don’t mean something from the heart—then why the hell bother with it?

You know as well as I do that, morally, there’s ZERO difference between the two situations.

It is nonsense to think that a nation must sacrifice its principles during a time of war. Enemy combatants, sorry unlawful prisoners, must be freed or charged with a crime. For example, did they rob a 7-11 or kill a 7 seven year old? If not then, there is no basis for holding them Shooting at an American soldier, nor killing one, is a crime.

An unlawful prisoner has the right to sue the US government and family of the killed soldier for damages. Most unlawful prisoners are law-abiding patriots supporting theocratic causes. Remember there is freedom of religion for muslims in the good old USA.

Free the 270 unlawful prisoners and return them on American Airlines to the country of their choice. Congress should pay for the $15 for each bag. Shame on us.

And then there’s the sticky little problem of whether Bush has done anything to be impeached for. It’s not so clear cut as bumper stickers and demagouges would have us believe.

I’ve heard more than 1 reputable legal scholar use the phrase “unprecedented but not illegal”

And while they may not be throwing you off the bus (they need your vote)they’re definately putting you back in the closet until after the election.

Rain,

The Dem party is not throwing you off the bus, at least not on the impeachment issue.

The reason Clinton was impeached but Bush was not is very simple. The Republicans possess a large voting bloc in Congress (often forgotten) and the Republicans are in no mood to impeach their president, particularly not in the middle of an election cycle, which would be a disaster for the party.

The Democrats do not talk seriously about impeachment because it has no chance, no remote chance, of succeeding. That is the conventional wisdom.

Also, when you say the people are for impeachment, I’m not sure that is true. The ultra-libs you frequent may be of one mind, but I have seen no polls suggesting a solid majority of Ma and Pa types are interested in impeachment.

In fact, there are still supporters of George Bush, jr. out there if you do check the poll numbers. Plus, he can still raise money for the party even when McCain is leery of being seen with him and tell-all Bush bashing books and intelligence reports are having a field day eviscerating him. The big dogs who contribute money still like Bush.

My opinion is the powers that be are happy to allow Bush to be dragged in the mud but not so happy to see it hurt McCain.

Check this out...especially you bob. It’s got Jim Webb, Confederates, Nazi’s and even the RTD all rolled into one story.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/10994.html

Now Webb will have a choice. Surrender his free will and submit to the mind crime goons or suffer losing favor with his new political buddies who will not tolerate mature discussions of opinions and ideas they disagree with.

Yikes, Belfast Telegraph.  Had really sick feeing when I pressed send.

Cindy Sheehan hasn’t fallen of the earth and you are right, the dem office holders (in general) are not for impeachment, but the people are.  Very few representatives represent their constituents and even fewer are honoring their oath to the Constitution.  Gotta run now, but will respond to more of your points in a bit.  Thanks.

Rain,

Get a clue. They use people like you and once they get what they want, they toss you overboard. The dems never intended to impeach Bush just as they never intended to get out of Iraq. They realize that while most people are disatisfied with Bush, they don’t believe he is the evil criminal as those on the fringe do. The dems know the “warrantless wiretap” and “torture” scandals are as much political hype as they are actual crimes and that an impeachment circus would likely do more to make Bush look sympathetic than make the dems look noble.

This is why the impeachment crusade is being left up to gomers like Kucinich. He gives people like you HOPE but absolutely no CHANGE. They get to pretend they tried and you feel like they actually care what you think.

There’s a reason Cindy Sheehan has fallen off the face of the earth. She’s served her purpose....the democrat partys reaquisition of power.

Nutty as in crazy to think impeachment will go anywhere with Pelosi and Hoyer keeping it “off the table”?
Hoyer was heard to say recently “The problem with impeaching Cheney is that Bush would be president.” You may know that Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment for Cheney last fall which sit on a shelf somewhere in the judiciary committee.  Interesting fact - Four of the thirty members of the House Committee of the Judiciary are from VA. They are Goodlatte, Boucher, Forbes, and our own Bobby Scott.  Why is VA overly represented?  Don’t we have about 2% of the population?
Also, someone just suggested Conyers, the chair, should ask Pelosi and the rest of the Gang of 8 who were told about warrantless wiretapping and torture years ago to recuse themselves from any talk of impeachment investigations, for it really would be improper given their complicity.
Good article on the 35 articles against Bush in the Belgrade (?) Telegraph (Ireland), which includes all the charges.  Why no coverage here?

I googled “impeach Bush” just to see what the fuss was all about.

Kucinich is kinda nutty.

I think that in order to be impeached, the accused has to have committed some sort of crime. Being ikky and a big meanie face isn’t a crime yet.

Speak truth to power? Honestly...WTF is that supposed to mean? When have leftists ever spoken truth about anything? And you have the power. Your people are running Congress. Feel used? Good. Maybe you’ll learn something about believing those our own soldiers can’t even trust.

I saw Howard Dean on one of the Obama channels this morning excreting a bunch of rehearsed gibberish out of his lie hole. The man actually used the phrase “Bush-McCain Regime”. This is what passes for adult rhetoric at the highest levels of the dem party...the slogans of 14 year old internet bloggers.

They’re about to come apart. Mark my word.
