Bob,
Guess it’s been a while since you live here. I’ve lived as north of Semmes as you can get (without getting my feet wet in the James) for over 20 years. My neighbors have been both black and white and still are.
For the sake of the children, i hope this works. Best wishes. One thing for sure, there is no politics like school politics.
There were some intresting comments. My favorite was the one about Semmes Ave being diverse. Actually, it is neatly segregated. North of Semmes, white as wonder bread. South of Semmes. the opposite.
I lived in that area for about two years. I guess I was pigeonholed as the neighborhood white trash . One of the neighborhood busy bodies tried to call the cops on me because I parked a box truck for work on a side street. Also, I had some motorhead projects in the backyard plus a chow chow doggie. Never did get invited to the Woodland latte and wine and cheese set.
Also, the complaint from Art Burton about changes that got shot down in curriculum at other schools. Art needs a friend at the Times Dispatch for his changes, I guess.
Best wishes and good luck.
