Today’s column discusses Virginia’s rising sea levels.
Reader Comments:
1) No, not insinuating eagerness to jack up rate proves global warming - instead, saying jacking up rates is no proof of a “conspiracy”.
2) You seem to think global warming is a hoax, a money grab. I find that difficult to take seriously because of the many thousands of worthy and credentialed people who would have to be in on this hoax and that makes no sense.
3) I was saying insurance cos. will go after rates no matter what the debate says simply because they are in business to exploit “opportunities”.
4) I’m not too familiar with Hanson’s so-called rants; I’m only interested in the science and in assigning some weight to the credibility of NASA itself - if you say he is a nutbar, a whack job, a looneytune, I see no terrible need to even debate that possibility.
Forget his personality. Assign a weight to his published science and to NASA itself.
5) “And the “everybody agrees” gimmick not only reeks of desperation...it’s getting old.”
No, it isn’t desperation. Wishful thinking on your part. Just opinion. It might be true. It might be false, but the refrain ain’t goin’ to change just because you are tired of hearing it. No gimmick either.
I mean, this isn’t ALL about arguing Roger. Fer Cris’ sake man, havn’t both of us swallowed the koolaid ? I mean, don’t you think I truely and sincerely believe in the “probability” of global warming and you sincerely believe it is all hyped up bunk and unproven exaggeration. These are not gimmicks.
Would sincerity seem possible ?
Is that so hard to believe ?
6) Have you seen the latest ? The security agencies have delivered a report to Congress on global warming. All the spooks are weighing in now.
Of course, they might/might not be saying that it is “manmade”, just saying they believe it truely is hitting the fan (hot, hot, hot) and they have assessed what that will mean when all the unstable nutjob countries in the world like Zimbabwe get hit with drought, epidemics and starvation, and/or rising sea levels.
You think Zimbabwe is bad now.
Not only that, but I think the assessment said something about how we aren’t really going to go green, cause the need for nasty stuff like coal will overwhelm all our greenie urges.
Not saying the eco-freaks are wrong. On the contrary. Just saying changing the lightbulbs is good but the world seems to be lurching towards a crushing need for energy at ALL costs, and those costs may be drastic.
Don’t you find all this interesting ?
And anyone who supports the derranged rantings of a religious zealot like Hanson who calls for disagreement to be criminalized is not only a misguided tool but an enemy to everything this nation is supposed to stand for.
And the “everybody agrees” gimmick not only reeks of desperation...it’s getting old.
No, but you’re insinuating that an insurance companies eagerness to jack up rates somehow proves that man made climate change is real. It doesn’t. All it proves is that insurance companies see an excuse to jack up rates.
In other words...an excuse to make money...which is all globalwarmingcoolingclimate change is about anyway. That and the power to tell other people how to live.
Actually, I do believe insurance cos. hype threats to jack up rates, but I don’t see the connection to some vast leftwing conspiracy.
They will exploit a problem, but I don’t see insurance salesmen driving around with CO2 bottles to fake the results.
The disasters are fairly recent and real unless you think the nightly news and Bart is in on the conspiracy.
Massive fires in Florida, California and elsewhere. (Dismal Swamp in Va.) Multi-year catastrophic floods in the Midwest.
Katrina. More tornado damage and numbers of twisters than normal. Drought.
Now all this is certain to come to the attention of insurance adjusters. Bank on it.
If Hansen is your so-called “tool”, it should still be a wakeup call that NASA in general is solidly in the global warming camp and that the NOAA just released a report stating extreme weather is to be expected for the shortterm future. (and is partly manmade)
Motivation for the globots ? No, it sounds like an unusually silly and nonsensical conspiracy theory to me.
I don’t think that many thousands of experts around the world can be duped easily, but I “do” believe a few fruit-n-nutbars here on the blogosphere can be duped very easily.
Today, Jim Hanson, the hyper psychotic global warming alarmist Nasa tool and leftist stooge who campaigned for Kerry in ‘04...refused to let his work be fact checked and when it finally was, was found to be wrong....is today advocating that the CEO’s of oil companies be charged with crimes against humanity and should be thrown in jail...before congress.
And to pretend that insurance companies don’t hype threats to jack up rates displays bountiful ignorance unless you’re still on mommies insurance policy.
If you can’t see the motivation driving the globots then, there’s nothing I can do for you. Just stay away from the rail road tracks. That light you see waaaaaaay down the track is a train that will eventually run over you because you obviously don’t have the good sense to get out of the way.
Roger,
Do you really have solid knowledge what the heck you are talking about or do you just pull talking points off of your eco-hate websites ?
I mean, are you personally aware of anyone being gouged or is this just some random fear and loathing ?
I’m not aware of anyone rationing fuel but the governor of California, and maybe a few other states, have water restrictions in place. That’s only because water is scarce in a few places, particularly states with arid desert areas prone to wildfires.
I think Lake Lanier (drinking water for Atlanta) is borderline right now, but I have not heard the latest.
It would take one great huge massive spectacular conspiracy with thousands of people in the loop in order to convince folks there is a water shortage when in fact there is none. Particularly when there is a lake involved and you gotta do is go drive out to the lake and see for yourself.
Business people also know a great opportunity when they see one. Using the hyped up fear of global (post most recent catastrophic temperature directional change here)as an excuse to charge (gouge?)is a great way to make a buck...and they do so with the blessing of politicians who themselves intend to exploit the fraud in similar fashion by raising taxes, rationing fuel and water dictating personal decisions at every level and using the ignorance, gleeful stupidity and apathy of the people to pull it off.
I roll!
The only thing that’s rising is the crap. Global warming...rising oceans...BUNK!
Good comments.
I’m not sure how much those Doomsday scenarios will play out, but the folks who make their business out of predicting the future, the insurance industry, are already weighing in.
They say the tide of immigration to Florida is abating a bit because it is getting harder to get insurance.
Two major floods in the Midwest ? Expect folks to either build on stilts or pay through the nose for flood insurance.
It does not matter to them what is causing the bad weather, but as long as it is happening, difficult to insure.
