The Wave Might Have Broken
Bill Taggart

President Obama surfed into the White House on a tidal-surge-sized wave of popularity and support.  According to the latest Rasmussen tracking poll, however, it appears that wave might finally have crashed on the shores of reality.

The most engaged or the most radicalized and polarized ?

I don’t think it will come as a surprise even to the Democrats that Republicans will pick up seats, same as the Democrats did from backlash to the Republicans and same as will happen many times over in the future and has happened on multiple occassions in the past.

Public disapproval of Congress is at an alltime high so I would not be surprised to see a few Republican seats fall too.

As long as Obama is chained to a sour economy his approval ratings will suffer. You can argue it is all his fault or you can argue he had nothing to do with it but the final result is folks vote their pocketbooks. Right or wrong that’s how it works.

Rasmussens polling is among the most accurate. His use of highest approval and lowest approval is very useful because these are the people most engaged and likely to vote in the off year. These are also the people most likely to get involved in campaigns, donate money and “set the tone”. Plus, it highlights the direction of the public mood. Fox News has it’s best ratings ever. The RNC and RSCC are raking in cash. Democrats are on the defensive across the board. Strong disapproval is rising.

All snark aside…Obama ran as a conservative democrat. His speeches were laced with references to responsibility, tradition, founding principles ect…yet he’s governed as a neosocialist who seems to have nothing but contempt for the very country he was elected to represent. This attitude might impress a small minority of phony intellectuals and perpetually angry losers but, most Americans want to feel good about themselves, their country and their future.

Most Americans can also add and this administration and congress are scaring the hell out of them.

I don’t expect democrats to ever admit their misgivings. Once you behave like a squealing school girl over a freekin politician, it’s hard to admit how silly it all was and how easily you were fooled…especially to the very people who told you what was going to happen, but it’s there, gnawing at the back of their mind.

Libs see “gray”, hmmm. On what topic? Most libs are polarized left like the radical religious right, but without the religion. They see no merit in any viewpoint that smacks of conservatism. If I save money, they spend it. If I eat yummy food, they eat organic. If I want to save lives of our troops by bombing Afganistan, they want to save Taliban lives. Which part of “left” do they not like? Loud, vocal, intellectually light-headed radicals espousing leftist ideas in line with Hugo, Castro and others.

BTW, moderates are the same. They just have trouble admitting it.

Food,

If Democrats want castles in the sky more the fool them. If that’s what they think who cares if they end up disappointed.

Not to be overly harsh, but conservatives need to quit being so loyal to rank incompetence just as liberals need to get their heads out of the sand and quit dreaming impossible dreams.

Reality looms large.

As for me, I haven’t seen enough of an Obama presidency yet, but I’m concerned about massive deficits, which have already potentially weakened the dollar and chased off foreign investors.  That one bears watching.

We’ll see how California fares. Leave it up to the left coast to be a test case for the rest of us in how to deal with a bankrupt economy.

Nah man…I don’t think his popularity is there anymore, and not enough for him to get re-elected IF all of a sudden there was a new special election, and, IF he came across a new Wonder Boy.

I’m around Democrats a lot of the time. Haven’t heard one of them pridefully boast about what a good job Obama is doing. In fact I sense they’re disappointed that all the pipe dreams didn’t come true—No castle in the sky, No not having to work anymore for a living.

You have to put yourself in a Democrat’s shoes here to feel it, the way they think & their expectations of what a good president is. I sense they are really let down.

Roger,

He may get re-elected - too early to tell, but his polls will probably dip more because the economic outlook is dim, and the Reps were due to pick up a seat or two anyway.

Whether you think it is some kind of trend or just happenstance is up to you.

I go with the latter because I think middle Americans vote their pocketbook.

I don’t put a lot of stock by Rasmussen. The idea of looking at highest approval and highest disapproval is already skewed to a conservative point of view. Conservatives tend to be polarized. (my opinion only) Libs tend to see gray, not black and white.

Whatever. If you want to believe it, go for it. All I want to know is if I knock on the door of your underground bunker storm shelter (after the bottom falls out and the world has dissolved into chaos), will you share your pork n’ beans with me or shoot me a a looter ?

Many posters have their hxxx up thxxx axx about Obama Jeeps popularity! He is immensely popular among a variety of demographics and in particular intellectual bumbleheads. He appeals to most Amerikans. This is nothing new.

The demographics favor DEMs and a platform of giveaway programs to blacks, the poor, lower middleclass and latinos. Their numbers are such that the GOP is a fading reality. There is no large group that votes conservative.

GOP religious nuts have little credibility with Amerikans. They spout theology that they cannot live with themselves-hypocrits. They sponsor outreach programs that have little meaning since there is no accountability by the targeted groups. Most religions are irrelevant to day-to-day living, in particular the Catholic Church. Like GM it is bankrupt.

Is Obama popular? You bet.
Is he going away soon? No.
Will he be reelected? Easily.

Will there be more nationalization of private enterprise? A sure thing.

Will there be more hate crime legislation directed at whites? Count on it.

Will a new plan for redistributing income be implemented in some form, probably disguised as something else? Take it to the bank.

I think she might actually want to leave the stage as a real journalist after all.

I see Obama has his nose up Uncle Hugo and Fidels asses again. Check out this photo of competing demonstrations in Honduras.

The huge one is in favor of tossing the Chavez clone who tried to illegally force thru a fake referendum supporting his staying in power in spite of term limits. What’s amazing is how this is being covered by the media…when they can pull themselves away from covering Michael Jackson. They’re saying it was a military coup. Bulls**t. This is even more disgraceful than Obama’s abandonment of the Iranians in favor of sucking on the Supreme Leaders ass.

I understand Obama’s affection for such people though because he’s one of them.
