President Obama surfed into the White House on a tidal-surge-sized wave of popularity and support.  According to the latest Rasmussen tracking poll, however, it appears that wave might finally have crashed on the shores of reality.

Herr LDL, you know that merit/learning is not popular in US. It is more about which special interest grupen vant you to win. The people vant Obama to lead them out of the misery of capitalism and into the heaven of govt. leadership. Long coat tails from every corner of America.

“PRINCETON, NJ—A Gallup Poll finds a statistically significant increase since last year in the percentage of Americans who describe the Democratic Party’s views as being “too liberal,“ from 39% to 46%. This is the largest percentage saying so since November 1994, after the party’s losses in that year’s midterm elections.“

Uh oh…

I’ll say one thing positive about Obama - he apparently knows how to pronounce “nuclear”.  Which is more than you could say about either G.W.B. or Jimmy Carter.

Reagan knew how to pronounce it, too.

The difference between Reagan and Obama is that Reagan was hard nosed pro American and Obama sees being an American as a drawback. Obama more closely follows Carter….a foolish and naive ideolouge who has no grasp of economics or international reality.

Reagans popularity eventually rose and he became one of the greatest presidents of the last century. It didnt happend because he decided to replace free will and free markets with a souless nanny state staffed by useless bureaucrats and patronage whores. Carter tried this. Carter is still considered a buffoon. Don’t bet too much on Obama having the strength of character and pragmatism to admit his university inspired utopian idiocy will not work. He’s not man enough to do that. He’s surrounded by drooling groupies and obedient media and this gives him the false impression that he’s actually as great as his worshippers think he is. Being a smug, arrogant golden boy will only get you so far. Eventually people will realize they bought the book because of it’s cover. The actual pages inside are blank.

As for Rasmussen…his polls are very accurate. Like stoogebob says, you can find a poll to suit your tastes. The NYT’s has been known to over sample democrats to get the results they pay for. Rasmussen, however, has the attractive habit of actually being credible because he’s right most of the time. His polls are taken to provide information…not propaganda.

Overall I think it’s good that discredited news outlets like the Huffpo and NYT’s put out intentionally misleading polls. It gives the cogs the false impression that they’re actually winning. By the time the figure out otherwise, it’ll be too late.

It looks like Bart is cherry picking the polls. There are other polls showing Obama still highly popular. Pick one, match it to your bias.

It’s proved now that experience matters.Unfortunately Obama is showing his disabilities about understanding and focusing on different political,economical and health issues.I hope he will learn with the passage of time.

First one positive thing: I personally agree with Obama’s distance from the Iran protest stuff. We’re still a mess here & (some) people want us to straighten Iran out?

I saw Obama’s ‘magic’ wear off the second day he was in office—and I laughed. Prior to the election, as you all remember, the smiles & optimism abound—WE are gonna turn things around!!! YAY!!! The crowds roared their approval and Obama’s smile got bigger. No more Bush; no more bad economy.

Then came the 1st post-inaugural speech:

(Obama with tight, serious face) Folks, none of this is going to be easy. We are going to have to bite the bullet for a while. Things WILL get worse before they better.

That was a very incoherent post I wrote earlier.
It always pays to go back and read what you submitted.
Unfortunately I agree that this half gainer is not unusual.
He has suffered from over exposure and under performance though and his young speech writers are beginning to sound a bit trite.When your experience only harks back to the 80’s you can run out of material pretty quick.
I hope he keeps showing up on the tv screen every 10 minutes and repeats and peels like an old onion.
Pretty soon that smell of inexperience and the politics gauche will have everybody holding their nose.

Woa, WOA, wait a minute….Obama has coat tails??! Where the hell did he get those from? One day a brash teenager with blue lips, the next day US President with traces of mothers milk still on his chin?

Where did the coat tails come from? I thought that was something one had to work for & earn. What am I missing here?

Nah.  Doubt it.  What’s unique about O’s first months is the steepness of his dive and the fact that he’s “matched the lowest level yet recorded” - after walking across the reflecting pools on his way into the White House.
