And you thought you were paying too much for gasoline. . . .
Desalinated seawater from Hawaii, meanwhile, is being sold as “concentrated water”—at $33.50 for a two-ounce bottle. Like any concentrated beverage, it is supposed to be diluted before drinking, except that in this case, that means adding water to . . . water.

Bob,
So…what you’re saying is that, even drunk, I still make more sense than you do?
Thanks buddy!
Since the green movement is primarily a totalitarian political-religious movement (aren’t they all)they depend heavily of symbology and sacred imagry. This is how mercury bulbs and bottled water can be seen as symboloic of ones faith and moral superiority. It’s like any similar movement in history. Long on obnoxiousness and hypocrisy and short on anything useful to the world.
Like Al Gore’s mansion.
These people tout their obedience to church doctrine and ritual as eagerly as any pentecostal hillbilly.
Fundies have their Jesus shaped potato shrines on the table and the ecologians have their cotton fanny packs and color coordinated food sold…new age holy relics sold to the new age true believers.
They’re the new hicks and they don’t even know it.
Yes, and more about water…what was it, a decade or so ago they really started pushing water consumption. “You must drink 2 litres a day”, or something like that. And people began doing just that.
Along this same time comes a concurrent rise in obesity. In fact I knew one guy that you never, ever saw him without a bottle of Desani water in his hand. He was also so fat & boated that it was a day’s work to get-up from sitting position. God rest his soul, but its true.
Back in the stone ages—the 1970s & 80s—when people were trimmer and more fit, well they drank from a tap if & when they were thirsty.
STOP CLIMATE CHANGE NOW!
Grab those CFLs and fling a little more mercury into tha landfills. No better yet keep them in the house where you can keep an eye on them and wait for the LEDs to light up your world.
The lemmings will bankrupt us if they don’t kill us first….
HUH? Concentrated water? A little goes a long way?!
Perhaps it helps keep the planet Green, like obnoxious buzzing low-power fluorescent lights. Yeah that’s it. Helps people stay Green. Changes the climate back to normal.
I think the phrase goes “there’s a sucker born every minute.“ People are so stupid. There is just no other word for it. Being associated with the water pollution field for so many years I know the money and effort and dedication that goes into what comes out of every one’s tap virtually for free.
When some moron slugging on a plastic bottle tells me me they are helping the environment and “besides it just taste better, I want to scream. Desalination is hideously expensive and unecessary for this purpose.
It takes 1.5 million barrels of oil to make the water bottles that contain the tap water that these idiots drink and 60 million of those botttles end up in either land fills or need to be recycled.
I am talking about the shortsightedness of so many of the “save the environment” products that have been introduced in the past few years.
My favorite by far and the one that makes my head buzz are those bloody CFLs that the government has mandated for us all by 2010. Just what our homes need more mercury. Mercury that can vaporize no less. They will last for 5 years if you never turn the bilious things off.
If people think they are expensive now wait until they are the only game in town. Almost without exception everyone I talk to has no idea about the mercury in the first place and no earthly idea what to do if there is a breakage. Disposal is another problem. Do we really think that folks are going to take them to a recycling plant. No,I see glowing landfills in our future. Or the local woods. I know mercury doesn’t glow just a little poetic license. There was something about the recycling plants disposing of them only one day out of the year. I hope we are not supposed to store them until that magic day.
Last but not least they are manufactured mostly in China where the attention to mercury spill off is not exactly sterling. Then they are transported in ships using bunker oil.
Sorry that wasn’t last or least. If anyone with a math head would like to look into the EPA’s smoke and mirrors numbers. Something about micrograms and millegrams. I have a whole host of numbers that make my head hurt. Anyone interested?
I think we have to save the planet from the environmentalists…..
I hyeard a funny one too. R. Smith could write a coherent paragraph that sounds like he is sober.
That’s funny. I heard another one recently that’s even funnier. Rumor has it that leftists have discovered the planet is warming due to all the things leftists hate and want to ban (imagine that!) and if we don’t ban them, surrender a boat load of other personal freedoms and transfer billions from the productive class to the useless intellectual class then we’ll all burst into flames.
One born every minute is right.
