What Is Liberalism?
Bart Hinkle
October 19, 2006 10:46 AM

Is Chief Justice John Roberts a political liberal? In one important sense, he is. And (up to a point) so should the rest of us be.

Reader Comments:

A liberal is generally someone willing to grant compentence to the great unwashed masses in ordering their own lives and what’s best for them, respecting their innate intelligence and instincts for what is right and what is not. A liberal knows that money has little to do with a citizens worth, that compassion and honest acceptance of all citizens keeps us strong and loyal to our constitutional precepts. In the finest musketeer tradition, all for one , and one for all.The Supreme Court needs to trust the Legislative branch more, the Executive branch less. Or I would have said that before they thoughtlessly passed the most dangerous legislation I’ve ever seen in a so-called compromise, which was actually a surrender to King George.
